About the author:

Jesse, the author of this blog, is a married father of 3 (soon to be 4) children from Wisconsin. His wife of 13 years is Amy and his children Tanner (11) Carter (4) and Evan (1) along with the 4th one that is yet to be named are his pride and joy.

He joined the Wisconsin National Guard in 2002 as a member of B Company, 1-128 Infantry in Rice Lake. Upon completion of basic and advanced infantry training at Ft. Benning he returned to his home station in Rice Lake and began the “one weekend a month” training regiment with his unit. In 2004 his unit was deployed to Iraq as part of the Global War on Terror (GWOT), they trained for 6 months prior to going to Iraq in Mississippi at Camp Shelby and in California at Ft. Irwin. While serving in Iraq he was present for the first ever democratic free election in the heart of the middle east, participated in security and stabilization missions and received numerous awards from the US Army.

Upon returning to the United States in late 2005, he resumed his normal drilling status with his unit and went back to work in the civilian marketplace. He has worked primarily in the Sales/Marketing field for the majority of his adult life but has always had a knack with computers and other “techie” items. He finally decided to put that to good use in 2008 by starting his own website design and hosting business (designwebz.com) which is progressing well, but will be put on pause due to this deployment. He considers himself mildly conservative and has well defined views about politics, government and world issues.

In his free time he enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends as well as most motor sports related activities. Having basically grown up on the lake, he also enjoys water skiing and boating (although he feels there never seems to be enough time for them). He enjoys watching movies and playing the occasional video game, his favorite is Call of Duty 4 online.

This blog will be a place where friends and family, or anyone else interested can keep up to date on what he is doing, where he is at and what his interests are along with various topics he finds a desire to write about. It will more than likely evolve into a wider topic base as time goes on, but will initially be used for topics specific to his current deployment.
