Apparently Israel can’t spell “we lost big time”

The news of a unilateral cease fire proposed by the Israeli government was welcome across most of the free world but  doubts of its longevity are commonplace. Headlines on Israeli newspapers today read “Ceasefire” with the words “The Victory” printed below, apparently Israel doesn’t know what they have lost in this. Israel has an election coming up so public opinion is critical for the parties running, having another loss or poorly defined victory as in Lebanon in 2006 would be devastating for  Defense Minister Ehud Barak of center-left Labor and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, head of the ruling centrist Kadima party who hope to replace Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. With just three weeks remaining until the countries Parliamentary elections they are clearly trying to place all the blame on Olmert who is not on the ticket for the February 10th elections. They have been quoted as saying “The ground campaign should have ended after 2-3 days, it was Olmert who wanted to continue.”

As the deaths are added up, the significant loss of innocent civilian life in Gaza is becoming more and more apparent. Of the 1200 casualties so far, there is a highly disproportionate amount of those losses being women, children and the elderly. Intentional Israeli attacks on UN shelters, UN schools, mosques and other protected structures was a common occurrence and the words “war crimes” are being spoken by many. Israel is already feeling the pain of boycotts on its goods and services with many of the Middle Eastern and European countries promoting a complete blockade of Israeli products. I personally will not support Israel through any means and intend to encourage as many as I can to avoid the direct or indirect sponsorship of Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people by boycotting any goods and or services that will profit Israel.

Of all the nations in the world that should understand the need for human rights, Israel definitely should. They should also embrace the concept. When I see Israeli soldiers on television saying “I don’t know what we are doing here. Purification maybe. It’s dirty here. I don’t know why a good Hebrew boy should be here so far from his home.” it completely sickens me. No person, country or government should be allowed to herd up a group of people such as this, Gaza is a prison already and Israel just went in on a killing spree to “clean things up.” The Palestinians are not free to travel, their lands, seas and all border crossings are controlled by Israel and nothing gets in or out, no food and no medical supplies without Israel saying its OK. What do you expect to happen? Of course there will be smuggling of products into the country, and of course Hamas will smuggle in weapons instead of food. There are two things destroying the Palestinian people, Hamas and Israel.

I do not, and will not support or endorse Hamas in any way. Hamas needs to be removed from Gaza, the Palestinian people should not stand for their presence there. I do feel sympathy for the Palestinian people and I know I would not tolerate anyone doing to me what they have had done to them. I hope the good, free nations of the world will intervene in this situation, hold Israel and Hamas accountable for what they have done and free the palestinian people who deserve just as much of a chance at life, liberty and the persuit of happiness as anyone else.

Sorry, the typographical errors have been fixed. I made the mistake of using the spell check. I will properly check my posts for grammatical and typographical errors better in the future.
