Why are we allowing Israel to do this?

I tend to read various news sources during the day to keep up to speed on world events and local happenings. I have been closely watching the events unfold in Gaza and I am completely appalled at what I have seen on the news and read in recent weeks. As I prepare for another deployment to Iraq I wonder why we have taken such a sideline approach to what is going on in Gaza, the Palestinians are enduring horrific suffering amidst world condemnation of Israels policies and tactics but we remain silent and still support Israel as an ally and only make statements that basically boil down to “Hey kids, play nice pretty please.” As the worlds big brother, it is our responsibility to not allow the massacre of thousands of innocent civilians no matter what the rationale behind it may be.

Hammas is listed as a terrorist organization, but we all know what breeds these types of organizations and how they come to be. I don’t think we should support Hammas but we should also not allow any nation, friend or foe to conduct operations in a manner that violates basic human rights and targets directly or indirectly innocent members of any community for any reason. Seeing images of the terrors coming from Gaza, the dead bodies of young children, fathers carrying their dead babies after yet another attack on a crowded civilian area, it just pains me to know we are doing nothing to stop this or change policy in any way. We sit back, idly watching and do nothing.

Hammas has targeted Israel for years, with sporadic, inaccurate rocket fire and Israel has allowed that to continue, they have now said enough is enough and I don’t blame them for that, but the methods they are using as a means to an end are completely disproportionate and the world community should condemn these events.

I honestly can’t imagine why we are doing nothing to stop this, what power over us can Israel possibly have? Why are we letting them once again commit genocide and doing nothing to stop it. Lebanon was a very similar instance where horrific atrocities were committed and we, along with the rest of the world did nothing about it. We shouldn’t, under any circumstances let the Palestinians go through the same thing. As long as the world allows Israel to conduct its “otherwise named” genocide missions they will continue to do so. The world wants the killing in Gaza to stop, we need to stand up and support those who would also like a peaceful resolution to what is happening there now.

Surely the Israeli military can conduct operations against Hammas without killing a disproportionate amount of innocents in the process. There will always be collateral damage and the loss of innocent civilians in war, but it appears the innocents are the target and they are definitely taking the brunt of the attack.
